Yesterday evening I drove out to Liberty State Park, one of my favorite spots for photos. The full moon was rising near the same time as sunset. I was debating going because of the cold weather and potential for cloudy skies. But during the day it seemed as if the clouds were clearing and the sun was starting to come out. The moon was rising right behind the city starting at 5:12 PM and the sun set was at 5:58 pm. So I started shooting around 515 and stayed close to two hours leaving near 7 pm. So glad I had my hand and toe warmers. The night was bearable with those two crucial items!
I was using my 28 mm f/2.8 prime lens in manual exposure and Auto White balance. My interval was set at 14 seconds with f/14 and ISO 320. My initial shutter speed was 1/100 seconds and I ended at 8 seconds.
The shot was perfect with the moon and the clouds started to clear once the moon was rising above the skyline. Truly epic! The moon light had an awesome reflection on the water and clouds. The only thing that would have made the shot better was a nice sunset color but I’ll have to try again for that! Hopefully you enjoy the video and photos!
